In a bold move that some are calling "shameless" and others are calling "deeply shameless," The Sutherland Shire Gazette has officially been nominated for the prestigious Sutherland Shire Local Business Awards. However, the mastermind behind this unexpected honour is none other than Bev from Admin, who submitted the nomination without consulting literally anyone in the newsroom.
“I just thought, why not?” Bev explained, mid-way through laminating something unrelated. “You lot are always complaining about not getting enough recognition, and I had five minutes before lunch. Seemed like a good idea.”
The decision, which was discovered when an email with “Congratulations!” in the subject line landed in the Gazette inbox, was met with initial confusion and then immediate self-congratulation.
“As a publication dedicated to reporting on the absurdity of local life, we felt it was time to honour the most important local business of all—ours,” said Gazette editor-in-chief Sandy Shores, while hastily Googling whether bribing voters with free stubby holders was legal.
So, dear readers, this is where you come in. We need your help to validate Bev’s lunchtime decision and secure this prestigious honour, which we will 100% use as leverage for a free round of drinks at Northies.
Vote for The Sutherland Shire Gazette today and be part of something truly historic—or at the very least, help us secure a shiny plaque for the office kitchen.
Vote now, or we’ll write a passive-aggressive article about it.
