In a shocking breach of the Greenhills Beach strict housing colour code, a local home has been publicly outed for defying the suburb's sacred covenant by painting its exterior in Taubmans Heritage Green, rather than the approved Dulux Surf Mist.
The rebellious act was exposed after concerned residents noticed the home “clashing aggressively” with its neighbours’ serene sea of greys, whites, and off-whites. An emergency meeting of the Greenhills Beach Aesthetic Standards Committee (GBASC) was called at sunrise.
“This is a direct attack on our community’s coastal-neutral identity,” declared committee president Karen Wainsworth, visibly distressed in her beige linen blazer. “We are a Surf Mist community — always have been, always will be.”
The homeowners, Bryce and Tahlia Sanderson, claim the colour choice was “a misunderstanding” due to “bad lighting” at the paint store. However, insiders suggest the couple may be closet design rebels, with unconfirmed reports of “contrasting feature walls” inside the home.
As punishment, the committee has ordered the Sandersons to repaint the house immediately or face suburb expulsion. They were also banned from the annual Coastal Chic Garden Tour — a devastating blow in the local social scene.
In an official statement, Taubmans offered to sponsor the repaint in Dulux-approved shades, calling the incident “a regrettable lapse in judgement, though Heritage Green remains fabulous.”
Meanwhile, Dulux issued a stern reminder that Surf Mist is “not just a colour — it’s a lifestyle.” Local Cronulla tradies report a sudden surge in repaint bookings as nervous neighbours “double down” on compliance.
