In what can only be described as the most ambitious crossover event in hospitality and television, rumours are swirling that the next season of HBO’s hit series The White Lotus will be shot at none other than Rydges Cronulla. Yes, you read that right—Cronulla’s iconic beachfront hotel may soon play host to a cast of disillusioned vacationers and their existential crises.

Sources close to the production say the show’s producers were “absolutely seduced” by the grandeur of the building, with its stunning ocean views, retro-chic décor, and unparalleled proximity to Northies.

“There’s just something about Rydges Cronulla,” said an anonymous insider. “It screams The White Lotus—the perfect blend of luxury and the potential for underlying chaos.”

Local residents, meanwhile, are already speculating on how the series will adapt to its new Shire surroundings. “I can’t wait to see the awkward tension play out over a seafood platter at Sealevel,” said one excited fan. “And imagine the drama when someone’s Coolcabana gets blown over by a sudden gust at South Cronulla Beach.”

Despite the hype, not everyone is convinced. Long-time Cronulla resident Bev from Bundeena questioned the choice. “I mean, Rydges is nice and all, but it’s not exactly Sicily or Hawaii. What’s next? Filming the season finale at the Cronulla Golf Club?”

The hotel staff is already preparing for the influx of celebrity guests and the inevitable flood of fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the action.

“We’re thinking of renaming our rooftop bar The White Lotus Lounge,” joked a manager. “It’s all about leaning into the theme.”

Social media has exploded with excitement, with locals imagining themselves as extras, or better yet, cast as the next quirky vacationers. One particularly popular post read, “Can’t wait for the scene where the guests take a pontoon out to Bundeena and get stranded by the tides.”

While HBO has yet to confirm or deny the rumors, one thing is for certain: if The White Lotus does indeed land in Cronulla, the Shire is in for a wild ride.
